The Garden

The Garden is not a place. It is not a physical location. The Garden is not a state of mind nor a tangible experience. Yet, these may be the closest descriptions for trying to understand something beyond comprehension while also not being “something.”

THE GARDEN by Travis Lawrence is a collection of transmissions altered only through the physical manifestation of their interpretations via the traditional craft of printmaking. The 35 hand-carved and individually painted relief prints are best understood as emblematic emanations of contemplative narratives.

All included writings remain unaltered from their original reception, alongside their visual companions, during the same chronological timeframe. Celebrating these words in their primal unedited form, they may be understood however the reader chooses. A collection of prose and praise, correspondences and contradictions, revelations and ramblings, or merely documentation.
